Made In God's Image Week 6: Esther's Request To The King

Hey parents! This week your child learned that because we are made in God’s image, we can stand up for what’s right. They heard the Bible story, Esther’s Request to the King, too! Use these questions as a guide to talk over this week’s lesson after they’ve watched the video service!

  1. What was your favorite part of the video we just watched?
  2. Why was Esther scared to talk to the King?
Esther had an important question for him, but it was against the law to go and talk to the king without being invited by the king first. She didn’t want to get in trouble or even killed!
  3. How did Esther stand up for what was right?
The Jewish people were in danger. Esther was the only one who could convince the king to help. Even though she was scared, God used Mordecai to encourage her to make the right choice. God puts all of us in the right place at the right time – the Bible says, “for such a time as this” – and He will help us or even give us people, like Mordecai, to help us do what is right.
  4. Have you ever been scared to make the right choice?
No! You can show empathy by being excited with them, happy when something good happens to them, and sad when they feel sad.
  5. In Game Time today, we played Stand Up If. When are some times you can stand up for what’s right if you see something that is wrong?
You can look for people who are being bullied or treated unfairly and get them help from an adult you trust, pray for them, and be a friend to them. You can tell the truth when other people are lying. You can listen to your teacher or parents even when the other kids aren’t.
  6. Our memory verse, Ephesians 2:10, says, “For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.” What are the good things that happen when you do what is right?
Doing what is right shows other people that you are like God! God always does what is right, and when you do the same, you are being a good example to other people. They might even come to know and love Jesus because of your good choice!
