Questions will include conversations about the Bible story to allow you and your children to reflect on the biblical truth and share your thoughts about the video with each other. - Download more tools, resources, and activities to go along with the video.
Included are coloring pages, craft or activity sheets, games, additional questions and ideas to engage with the Bible story further at home with your child.
Purposes: Jesus Calls Peter
Hey parents! Use these questions as a guide to talk over this week’s Bible story, Jesus Calls Peter, with your child after they’ve watched this week’s Church at Home elementary video. Remember that we were created to belong to God’s family!
- What was your favorite part of the video we just watched?
- What does it mean that God made you for a purpose?
“Purpose” is the reason something was created or made. God created us to be part of his special plan to love him and show other people his love, and one of the ways we do that is by worshipping him! - What does it mean to belong to God’s family?
We can belong to God’s family by choosing to believe in Jesus and follow him when we choose to accept His free gift of salvation. When we become followers of Jesus, we become part of God’s family. - Have you ever prayed to God about being in his family by believing in Jesus and making Him the Lord of your life?
If you have prayed this and are a Christian, talk about when you prayed that prayer and why. If you haven’t, maybe today is the day to pray or talk about questions you still have.* - What are some things (teams, groups, etc.) that you belong to? How does it make you feel to belong?
Maybe you belong to a sports team, club, group of friends, KSG group, class at school, or even a family! When you belong somewhere, it can make you feel like you are important and loved. But nothing can compare to the real and perfect love God gives. When you belong to God’s family, he makes you feel important and loved in the most special and perfect way. He loves you forever and there is never anything you could do or say that would make him ever stop loving you! You can always belong to God’s family. - How can you show other people that you belong to God’s family?
You can show you belong to God’s family when you make good choices like Jesus, tell other people that you love Jesus, talk about what you learn in the Bible or at church with your friends, or when you choose to get baptized and share and celebrate your decision to follow God! Baptism is how we show other people that we’ve made the decision in our hearts to follow Jesus.**
