Talk It Over

Made In God's Image Lesson 1: Adam And Eve

Hey parents! This week your child learned that we are all made in God’s image. They heard the Bible story of Adam and Eve,too! Use these questions as a guide to talk over this week’s lesson after they’ve watched the video service!

  1. What was your favorite part of the video we just watched?
  2. What did God say when he created man and woman?
He said, “very good.” He loves all of his creation so much. He wants each person to spend forever with him in Heaven and be in his family.
  3. Have you ever prayed to God about being in his family by believing in Jesus and making him the Lord of your life?
If you have prayed this and are a Christian, talk about when you prayed that prayer and why. If you haven’t, maybe today is the day to pray or talk about questions you still have.*
  4. What does it mean to be made in God’s image?
God created us like him. We can think, feel, create, love, and so much more like God. And because we are made like him, he wants us to be like him in the things we say, do, and think. We will never be perfect like God, but we can become more like him when we make the choices he would make and love everyone he made.
  5. In Game Time today, we played Spot the Difference! What do you think God would say about how to treat people who are different than you?
They are “very good” because he created them! That doesn’t mean that every person makes good choices. It means that God loves every person he creates, even people who look, think, or act different than you. Since we were made in God’s image, we should treat everyone the way God does with love and respect.
  6. Ephesians 2:10, says, “For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.” What are some good things you can do to show other people they are God’s masterpiece?
You can tell them they are God’s masterpiece by saying it, writing it in a note, drawing a picture, or calling them on the phone. You can remind them of the story of Adam and Eve in the Bible by watching Church at Home with them or sending them the video to show them that they were created in God’s image.

Lastly, we know you may have had some tough conversations with your child recently about what is going on in our world. To help, we have gathered videos, articles, and resources to help you through the tough stuff that parenting throws at you. Check out http://saddlebackparents.com/tough-stuff/ for resources to help guide you as you do the challenging and worthy work of raising brave, loving, kind kids who love God and others!
