Talk It Over
Daniel And The Lions' Den
Hey parents! Use these questions as a guide to talk over this week’s Bible story called Daniel and the Lions’ Den with your child after they’ve watched this week’s Church at Home elementary video. I am faithful to God because he is always faithful to me.
- What was your favorite part of the video we just watched?
- What kinds of things do you pray about? How many times do you pray?
There is no magic number of prayers we are supposed to pray every day, but the Bible tells us to pray in all circumstances. Being faithful to God in prayer, like Daniel, means we can pray about everything, every time of day! - How often did Daniel pray?
He prayed three times every day! - Why did Daniel get in trouble for praying?
The king had made a law that said they were not allowed to pray to anyone other than the king – that meant Daniel was told he was not allowed to pray to God! - Why did Daniel still pray to God?
When we know we are making the right choice and doing something that honors God, we don’t have to be afraid. Daniel wasn’t afraid because he loved God and knew God loved him. Daniel chose to be faithful to God no matter what. - How is God faithful to us?
God always takes care of his children, even if we can’t always see or understand what he is doing. He is faithful to us because he sticks with us and loves us no matter what. We can be faithful back to him in the same way: sticking with God no matter what. - Is there a time you can’t pray or a thing you shouldn’t pray about?
No! You can always talk to God just like Daniel did. When you pray to God in all situations – scary, happy, fun, hard, etc. – you are showing faithfulness. If you’re afraid of getting hurt or sick, you can pray that God protects you every day. If you’re afraid of being lonely, you can pray every day that God sends you a friend. If you’re afraid of your parents arguing, you can pray every day that God brings them peace. If you are having a great day, you can stop and thank God!
