Acts Week 1: God Sends the Holy Spirit

Hey parents! Use these questions as a guide to talk over this week’s lesson, God Sends the Holy Spirit, with your child after they’ve watched the video service!

Family Talk It Over Questions:

  1. What was your favorite part of the video we just watched?
  2. What would you have thought if you saw when the Holy Spirit first came to the apostles?
  3. What is the most powerful source of power and how do you get that power?
  4. Have you ever prayed to God to ask Him to be the Lord of your life? Is that something you want to talk about?*
  5. What are some things that the Holy Spirit can help you do?
  6. What do you think about the fact that, because of the power of the Holy Spirit, you can do much more than you ever imagined or thought possible?
  7. Don’t forget about this week’s Power Up Challenge!

* Refer to the How to Become a Christian booklet to help with this conversation.

This week, your child will be able to make their very own paper headband. With a picture of the flame that appeared on the apostles’ heads, the headband reminds them that God is the most powerful, and his power is available through the Holy Spirit for those who believe and follow Jesus!

You and your child can do your very own experiment at home, just like the one they saw in Hahn’s lab! This week write a secret message in invisible ink and watch it appear with just the stroke of a paintbrush. Your child will see the incredible power of science, but even though it seems so powerful, the Holy Spirit is the most powerful!

Hahn's Lab

Send your child their very own postcard from Hahn’s Skuppet science lab! Each week, you will be able to print out a postcard from Hahn, where he’ll remind them of the Bible story they saw in this week’s church service.
