Saftey
In order to minimize injuries, such as getting cuts, bruises and stepping on something we should not step on (ie. metal), we ask volunteers to wear a mask, gloves, thick-soled shoes (like boots), and thick outerwear.
The mask will help us not breathe in any ash along with protection against carcinogens and Covid-19, the gloves and thick outerwear minimize the chances of getting cuts, and the thick-soled shoes protect us from stepping on rusted metal. Finally, we never walk into the middle of a burned home or outbuilding from the start; rather we always start on the edges and work our way in.
