Support for Our Community.

In the face of adversity, Mill City Christian Church stands as a beacon of hope and support for our community. Our Disaster Response initiative offers a multi-faceted approach to aid and recovery, whether you need help with property clearing, prayer, or other forms of support. Together, we can navigate these challenging times and rebuild, one home at a time.

Our Story

Here's our story and how and what you can do to help us rebuild on home at a time. We put this video together in  November with the hopes of getting as many people involved in the rebuilding process as possible.

HOW TO GET INVOLVED

Serve

We are coordinating with the city and local services in the Santiam Canyon for property clean-up

We have a four-part process to clean properties safely and effectively.
1.) Stack any metal and/or load it into a metal bin
2.) Clearing ash and putting it into one or two piles for simple future pickup.
3.) Removing fire burnt trees that may be a danger to the homeowner.
4.) Stack bricks in one pile for easy pick at later date.

Saftey

In order to minimize injuries, such as getting cuts, bruises and stepping on something we should not step on (ie. metal), we ask volunteers to wear a mask, gloves, thick-soled shoes (like boots), and thick outerwear.

The mask will help us not breathe in any ash along with protection against carcinogens and Covid-19, the gloves and thick outerwear minimize the chances of getting cuts, and the thick-soled shoes protect us from stepping on rusted metal. Finally, we never walk into the middle of a burned home or outbuilding from the start; rather we always start on the edges and work our way in.

Pray

One of the biggest ways we all can be involved with the recovery from disaster is to pray daily for our families, our community, and our church.

With Much Prayer Comes Much Blessing,
With Little Prayer Comes Little Blessing,
and With No Prayer Comes No Blessing.

Give

Disaster recovery costs money! All donations are used to provide relief and recovery assistance to individuals, families, non-profits, and churches.

JOIN US IN GIVING FINANCIALLY

Disaster Response is the initiative of Mill City Christian Church in response to the recent catastrophic fires. We believe especially in times like these, the church must rise up and go bold! In the midst of the heartbreak and devastation, we can show God’s love and generosity to the people around us. We can bring Hope into Crisis.

THREE PHASES OF RESPONSE:

Rescue

Rescue means simply that: we help rescue those neighbors and friends in crisis.

Relief

Relief means we are providing resources to those in need and supplies are collected and distributed.

Recovery

Recovery means we clean up houses and we rebuild, getting our world back in order.

OUR DISASTER RESPONSE PLAN

We are currently in the Recovery phase of our response. We do whatever it takes to engage our community’s needs by supporting and loving our neighbors. We show up and serve in homes, we support shelters established by area churches and civil agencies, and we donate supplies to resource those in need.
