Serving the Lord in Tixtla de Guerrero, Mexico
March-April 2026 Update
Dear Praying Friends,
The months fly by as I just try to keep up with everyday life and the ministry that God has given us here. I keep up with time as I see the weather change. We are in our hot months now with rainy season coming soon. Mark and Benji never miss a day in their get-in-the-pool streak. Every night, even if it’s already 10 PM, they jump into our 4 ft. deep pool to cool off before bed. Mangoes are coming out of our ears, and insects sing so loudly that they almost keep me awake at night sometimes. As the clouds begin to gather, I know that birthdays are near and better start planning with 6 of our birthdays happening within 3 weeks of each other! We are all very excited around here because Samuel will be here for his birthday for the first time in 5 years! Efra and I had the joy of accompanying Samuel in his college graduation from Golden State Baptist College at the beginning of this month.

He has been helping in my home church Calvary Baptist in Marina, CA for the last year, and I know that they will all miss him very much, but we are very eager to see him use his talents back home in Tixtla. He will be serving with us until the Lord leads him otherwise. Hannah (just finished her junior year) and Grace (her freshmen year) will be on tour for the college until mid-July when, Lord willing, they will travel home to be with us for a little more than a month.
In March we had the opportunity to take our young people to the yearly youth conference in Cuernavaca where my husband and some other pastor friends of ours taught. The Lord called two of our young people into full-time service which is the “paycheck” we are always looking for.
In April, Efra had the joy of baptizing 10 new brothers in the Acapulco mission, which is really not a mission anymore, but rather a church.

We are praying for the opportunity and the funds to buy a piece of property for this growing church. As I write this, Efrain, Lydia, Laura and another 8 brothers and sisters in Christ (from Tixtla) are at the Tuesday service in Acapulco, where they spent their day witnessing and discipling new believers. They’ll come back around 10 tonight–hot, tired, and happy.
Lord willing, this month we will see the cement roof poured and finished in the church building in the mountains in Ajacayan. The Lord has used His servants to provide for His work in such beautiful ways. Efrain did not go to the mission last Tuesday, due to the insecurity in the mountains. I don’t have much of an update on that situation except that I heard yesterday that some families have been able to return to their homes. Thank you for praying. As I know more, I will keep you informed. (The most affected towns lie between the new construction and Tixtla, making traveling a bit risky.)
Thank you for all of your prayers and financial support. (I didn’t just write that as an accustomed ending. I truly mean it!) We love you and are so thankful for you.
In Christ,
Laura (for the whole Ruiz family)
